He has been pioneering endoscopic surgery, reproductive surgery, and fertility treatment for over 25 years. While his main practice is at Gynae Consultancy, Mount Elizabeth Medical Center, he has conducted training courses in keyhole surgery for gynaecological conditions and fertility surgery on behalf of the International Society for Gynaecologic Endoscopy.

Dr Yap is recognized for his involvement in the professional bodies of Singapore such as Singapore Medical Association, Academy of Medicine and Singapore Medical Council Obstetrical & Gynaecological Society of Singapore, as well as International Society for Gynaecologic Endoscopy.

He is renown internationally being the President of the International Society for Gynaecologic Endoscopy (2001 /2003). Dr. Yap regularly conducted training courses and workshops in Endoscopy for both Gynaecologists and General Surgeons in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei, Philippines, Myanmar, Bangladesh, India, Kenya, Australia and China.
